Slot expected to continue at Liverpool next season

Arne Slot is expected to continue as Liverpool head coach next season, Your Site News understands, as the club close in on Champions League qualification.

Any doubts about the Dutchman's future appear to be subsiding rapidly as a seven-point gap has opened up between Liverpool in fifth place and Chelsea in sixth.

Fifth place will secure Champions League football next season after Arsenal's progression to the semi-finals - and Liverpool's form has picked up while Chelsea are slipping.

Jamie Carragher said on Monday Night Football that the "noises I am hearing is Slot will be the Liverpool manager next season if they can secure Champions League qualification, which they look like doing right now."

Your Site News also understands that is the case after a season of increasing speculation over Slot's future, as a transitional season at Anfield has borne frustrations on and off the pitch.

Slot is set to retain the support of the hierarchy ahead of a summer in which more work is expected to be done to the squad following the announcement Mo Salah will be leaving.

Your Site News understands RB Leipzig's Yan Diomande is among their top targets for a new forward while several other positions are also being looked at.

Teenage defender Marli Salmon has signed a pre-contract agreement with Arsenal.

The agreement will see him sign a first professional contract with the club when he turns 17. Salmon has made four first-team appearances since his debut in December's Champions League tie against Club Brugge.

Salmon made his first start in last month's FA Cup fifth-round win at Mansfield and Arsenal have announced he will sign a professional contract with the club when he turns 17 on August 29.

"It's a very big moment for me, for my family as well," said the defender, who saw fellow 16-year-old star Max Dowman sign a pre-contract deal in January.

"I'm very proud. I've been at the academy since I was nine and I just want to give everything to the club. I'm an Arsenal supporter and I've had some great memories so far.

"I'm so proud to have made my debut this season, I just want to keep pushing on still, keep my levels high and try to get as much experience as I can in the first team."

Guardiola coy on John Stones' future

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has remained coy on the future of both John Stones and Vitor Reis

England international Stones is back in training ahead of the all-important title race run-in, but is out of contract in the summer.

Meanwhile, Brazilian Reis has been out on loan at Girona this season and has made it public that he would like to return to City to fight for his place next season.

"The only thing I can say is that he's [Stones] back for already two or three weeks," said Guardiola.

"On Monday he's training with us. And this is the best news."

On Vitor Reis:

"From my info in Girona, it was unbelievable. He's played. The reason why he went there was because of his age and maybe there were not so many chances to play here.

"He grew up as a player. People in Girona are so pleased, happy. The decision is going to happen. We are going to take it at the end of the season."
